What it is
Plant matter, pressed under rock for centuries
Shilajit seeps out of high mountain faces as a dense resin, and its most studied component is fulvic acid: a carrier molecule that binds trace minerals and appears to help move them across a membrane. That is the mechanism the category rests on. It is a food supplement, not a medicine, and it works on the scale of a month rather than an afternoon.

Why the report matters
Raw resin carries whatever the rock carried
In some deposits that means lead, arsenic, mercury and cadmium. Purification is what separates the resin from it, and a third-party test on the batch in your jar is the only way you find out whether the purification worked. Every batch here is tested and the certificate is published. In this category that is not a feature, it is the price of entry.
